The Noble Maritime Collection

The Noble Maritime Collection is an art and history museum located on Staten Island, dedicated to showcasing the working waterfront of New York Harbor. Founded in honor of renowned artist John A. Noble, the museum presents exhibitions and programs that celebrate his legacy and the rich maritime history of the area. Visitors can explore three floors of galleries, classrooms, a library, archives, and even John A. Noble's restored 19th-century houseboat studio, which is a centerpiece of the museum.

One of the museum's highlights is the Treasures of Sailors' Snug Harbor exhibition, featuring a full-length portrait of Alexander Hamilton, who played a significant role in establishing the Sailors' Snug Harbor retirement home. Visitors can also admire the Ship Model Gallery, which showcases a collection of ship models, including folk art ships in bottles made by sailors. Additionally, the museum houses an exhibition dedicated to the historic Robbins Reef Lighthouse, which includes personal belongings of the legendary keeper Katherine Walker.

By using the NYC Borough Pass, visitors can enjoy the immersive experience offered by the Noble Maritime Collection and delve into the fascinating maritime history of New York City. Whether exploring the galleries, attending lectures and concerts, or participating in sea shanty sing-alongs, visitors of all ages and interests will find something to engage and inspire them at the museum.
