MoMA PS1

Welcome to MoMA PS1, a leading institution for contemporary art in New York City. With a focus on artist-centered and community-driven programming, MoMA PS1 offers audiences the opportunity to encounter new art and explore innovative perspectives. For almost 50 years, the institution has been a vital hub for boundary-breaking ideas and experimental practices.

Originally founded as P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center by curator Alanna Heiss, MoMA PS1 played a pivotal role in the alternative space movement of the 1970s. Located in a historic public school building in Long Island City, Queens, PS1 is a unique site that has been transformed into a renowned space for artistic experimentation and creativity.

At MoMA PS1, you can engage with a range of programs, including exhibitions, commissions, events, music and performance, and artist interventions and residencies. Explore the Skyspace installation by James Turrell, where you can gaze up at the unobstructed sky and contemplate its beauty. Immerse yourself further in the experience by using the free Bloomberg Connects app, which offers a multimedia visitor guide featuring artist interviews, performances, and more.

One of MoMA PS1's standout projects is the Greater New York exhibition, held every five years, which showcases the work of local artists living and working in the New York City area. This ongoing survey highlights both emerging and established artists and provides an international platform for under-recognized talent.

Don't miss the signature Warm Up summer music series, a beloved program that connects audiences with innovative and experimental music. Featuring a lineup of acclaimed artists and DJs, Warm Up has become a renowned platform for cutting-edge music.

After exploring the vibrant art and music scene at MoMA PS1, satisfy your palate at Mina's, an all-day café by chef Mina Stone. Inspired by Mediterranean flavors and home-cooked dishes, Mina's offers a culinary experience that celebrates the Greek tradition of slow-cooked, homestyle cuisine.
